After a long winter lay off work was restarted on the next stage of laying the foundations for the decking. The weather was very good so i was able to measure up the site, mark it out and create the post bases for the front section of decking. Click here for further information. The post bases for the decking at the side of the caravan were completed in October 2014. Over the 18th-20th April three post bases were completed. Another three bases are still to be completed and then the construction of the wooden frame can start. |

I started planting the second phase of seeds in the propagator on 9th April. I planted Calendula, Antirrhinum, Dwarf Sunflowers and Impatiens. The Calendula have come on very quickly and 90% have germinated so far in less than 4 days. The Sunflowers are now starting to push through and the Antirrhinum have also germinated. A 'white fuzz' of germinating seeds has appeared. I have not had much success with Antirrhinums so far this year with two attempts failing so hopefully this will be third time lucky. I plan to plant another try in a week or so as yet another back up plan! The Impatiens seeds have yet to show definite signs of germinating but these usually require about a week on the propagator before doing so. Successfully completed the repairs on the Hitachi cassette recorder that had not been working properly since the early 1980's. The mains transformer was replaced and initially that appeared to fix the problem but after a short period of testing it was clear that the transformer would fail again. After further investigation and testing the bridge rectifier circuit on the PCB had to replaced. So now i have a cassette deck to play all those old tapes and i should now be able to connect up to the ZX81 and load and save some programs. It was getting the ZX81 and the I/O board going that got me thinking about repairing the cassette in the first place. Click here for further information. |
