I started in January 2015 planting bulbs in pots in a propagator, transferring them to the greenhouse and then into the garden. I harvested them in late July 2015 and then left them in the garden to dry off. The results were way ahead of what i expected. I have been using the garlic to make soups, cook and to make my own garlic butter. I have given away quite a bit of the garlic butter and the feedback has been very good. I have also given away the garlic bulbs and let people use them how they wanted and most felt it was better than that available in the shops although the cloves were larger and more variable in size than the shop types. This may be due to me harvesting a little later, possibly by a month, later than i should have. I plan to increase the amount i grow next year and have already started growing about 12 plants in a propagator.
I decided to experiment with growing garlic this year, out of interest to see how it would go and also to try to keep cats away from using the garden as a toilet. The latter was mostly successful so i plan to do it again next year to keep the cats away.
